In completing this certificate I was able to take a wide variety of courses that were about the local Inidngeous and communities all around the world. The knowledge that I gained from these courses was invaluable and I was privileged to have the experience. I hope to be able to use the knowledge that I learnt while completing this certificate to better support the students that I teach.
I am now able to understand the needs and supports that students with exceptionalities need. This certificate was a great introduction into the world of education. I was able to work one to one with students and give them the proper support for learning. The work that I did after completing this certificate was amazing to see how valuable Education Assistants are to help run the school smoothly.
Taking the 6 workshops including Resilience and Competence, Supporting Students With Brain Differences (FASD & ASD), and Positive Behavior Supports were part of my Education Assistant Certificate. Experts in the field taught us about the expertise of each of the topics and how to support diverse learners. I found the information being taught very valuable and I plan to retake these workshops when I have professional development days.
