My husband and I on a water taxi in Vancouver BC.

Hello, Bonjour, Weyt-kp, my name is Natalie Lewis and I am originally from Salmon Arm, British Columbia. My husband and I moved to Kamloops four years ago to attend university and pursue careers in teaching. I grew up spending a large portion of my time outdoors so I developed a love of nature early on in my life. I am an animal lover! I have two cats who are siblings and two dogs who I love to go exploring and hiking with. I am a hobby gardener and enjoy experimenting with new plants and watching them grow. I am most happy when I am outside and strive to spend as much time as possible gardening and exploring new areas. My dream is to have a hobby farm where I will have pigs, chickens, goats, cows, and of course more cats and dogs.

I was homeschooled until grade 3 then I went to Hillcrest Elementary for two years before switching to Bastion Elementary. I started in a late French-immersion track in grade 6 as my family is French-Canadian. Even though my mother is a retired educator, I would have never thought I would end up pursuing teaching as a career. Honestly, I never thought I would ever go back to school when I graduated as school was not an enjoyable experience for me. However, I am beyond happy that I dipped my toes into college in 2017 to complete my Education Assistance certificate and was re-exposed to the school setting. From then on I fell in love with learning and found that I could not stop wanting to learn. The experience, memories and people that I met in my bachelor’s degree are some of the best.

For my future, I plan to be an elementary teacher for a number of years before I begin to pursue my Masters in Education and who knows maybe even my doctorate. I eventually would like to teach at a University level as I had an amazing professor in my bachelors degree that has been an inspiration of mine to pursue teaching. I believe that I would thoroughly enjoy teaching Human Geography, Sociology, or Anthropology at the university level as they are areas I am passionate about.

My sister and niece!
